Participation of Astroviruses in Virus Gastroenteritis in Children
Podiel astrovírusov na vírusových gastroenteritídachu detí
Predkladaná práca sumarizuje prvé údaje o výskyte astrovírusov vo vzorkách stolíc od chorých detís gastroenteritídou na území SR. Prítomnosť astrovírusového antigénu sa dokázala v 21 vzorkách(11,2 %) sledovaného 188-členného súboru. Len astrovírusová infekcia sa zistila v 8 vzorkách (4,3 %)a zmiešaná infekcia astrovírusmi a rotavírusmi v 13 vzorkách (6,9 %), z toho v 6 prípadoch v skupine0–11-mesačných detí. Výsledky poukazujú na aktuálnu potrebu rozšírenia spektra enterálnychpatogénov dokazovaných pri objasňovaní etiológie hnačkových ochorení aj o diagnostiku astroví-rusov.

The submitted paper summarizes the first data on the incidence of astroviruses in specimens offaeces of children suffering from gastroenteritis in the Slovak Republic. The presence of theastrovirus antigen was revealed in 21 specimens (11.2%) of the investigated groups comprising 188children. Astrovirus infection only was detected in 8 specimens (4.3%) and mixed infection withastroviruses and rotaviruses in 13 samples (6.9%), incl. six from 0–11-month-old infants. The resultsindicate the need to extend the spectrum of enteral pathogens elucidating diarrhoeal diseases bythe diagnosis of astroviruses.
