Water Intoxication Caused by Excessive Intake of Hypotonic Fluids in Young Children
Intoxikace vodou u malých dětí způsobená nadměrným příjmemhypotonických tekutin
Hyponatrémie způsobená nadměrným příjmem hypotonických tekutin může být příčinou konvulzí zejménakojenců/batolat. Autoři tuto skutečnost dokládají na dvou klinických případech. Pečlivá anamnéza zaměřená napříjem vody a vyšetření biochemických parametrů v séru/moči jsou nezbytné v diferenciální diagnostice tétozávažné dyselektrolytémie.

Hyponatraemia caused by excessive intake of hypotonic fluids can be the cause of convulsions in particular ininfants/toddlers. The authors demonstrate this fact on two clinical cases. A careful case-history focused on waterintake and examination of biochemical parameters in serum/urine are essential in the differential diagnosis of thisserious dyselectrolytaemia.
