Preliminary experience with lamivudin treatment of chronic type Bhepatitis

Overview
The authors present a small series of patients with chronic hepatitis B, who were indicated fortherapy with lamivudin. On the basis of generally valid criteria (activity of aminotransferases, virological markers, histology) a total of eight patients were treated. Presented are the continuousand final assessments of the treatment. The authors consider lamivudin therapy, in thesmall series, to be successful in as it had led to a decrease in the activity of aminotransferasesand to the arrest of virus replication. After a period of one year the results do not seem to be soimpressive.
