Embryonální kmenové buňky: balancování na etické hraně

Od roku 1998, kdy byla publikována informace o získání lidských embryonálních kmenovýchbuněk, je celosvětově diskutována etická oprávněnost tohoto výzkumu. Kritika se soustřeďujepředevším na manipulaci se zdrojem těchto buněk, kterým jsou lidská embrya. V článku jsouzvažovány důvody pro využití embryí k těmto účelům a proti tomu. Pozornost je zaměřena nastatus lidského embrya s využitím aristotelské filozofie a v souvislosti s vnímáním embrya jakozdroje biologického materiálu je diskutováno o rozdílu mezi lidskou bytostí a lidskou osobou.

Overview

Since 1998 when there has been published the obtaining of human embryonic stem cells, thereis being discussed worldwide the ethical justification of such research. Criticism is focused onthe manipulation with the source of such cells, the human embryo. In the article are consideredthe pros and cons in the utilization of embryos to those ends. Attention is focused on the statuteof the human embryo applying Aristotelian philosophy, and in connection with perceiving theembryo as a source of biological material there is discussed the difference between the humanbeing and the human person.
