Detekce aterosklerotického postižení karotid je silným nástrojem k odhalení systémově probíhajícíaterosklerózy. U nemocných s rizikovými faktory ICHS značí zvýšené riziko budoucíkardiovaskulární příhody a umožňuje včasné zahájení léčby. Diagnostika a terapie významnýchstenóz společné nebo vnitřní karotidy je součástí prevence cévních mozkových příhod. Článekse zabývá klinickými dopady průkazu aterosklerózy karotid, diagnostikou a možností terapie.

Overview

The detection of atherosclerotic alterations in the carotid vessels is useful as a strong guide inthe uncovering of systemic atherosclerosis. Patients presenting with risk factors of ischemicheart disease have a higher risk of coronary heart attacks, this allows us to start earlytreatment. The diagnosis and treatment of significant stenoses of either the common or internalcarotid vessels is an important component in the prevention of cerebral stroke.
