Overview
The article addresses the possibilities of therapeutic use of IUD – Mirena®, which is used in the Czech Republic since 1998. It is a levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system (LNG-IUS) and its main indication is to prevent unwanted pregnancy. During the time of IUS use is known protection against endometrial hyperplasia in the hormone replacement therapy and the therapy of menorrhagia. Despite the great interest of the public for the professional side of the display, remains the greatest importance Mirena® just for contraception. We present two case reports of a possible therapeutic use of levonorgestrel.
