Overview
We present a rare complication of uterine myomatosis – necrotic changes to uterine fibroids – in a pregnant patient. The necrosis manifested as an acute abdominal pain requiring surgical intervention that preserved vitality of the pregnancy. A 31-years-old woman with intrauterine twin pregnancy at 11 weeks complained of acute abdominal pain. The patient is referred for diagnostic laparoscopy that detected a tumorous formation in the left corner of the uterus, extirpated following conversion to laparotomy. Following the intervention, the complaints ceased while pregnancy was preserved. The diagnosis of necrotic myoma of the uterus was confirmed by histology.
