First Death from Tertian Malaria in the Czech Republic
PRVNÍ ÚMRTÍ NA MALARIA TERTIANAV ČESKÉ REPUBLICE
Autoři popisují fatální případ malaria tertiana (Plasmodium vivax) importovaný do ČR z Indie. Těžké klinicképříznaky vedoucí až k šoku a multiorgánovému selhání bývají častější u tropické malárie (P. falciparum). Přes použitíkontinuální veno-venózní hemodiafiltrace došlo za poklesu HLA-DR k exitu. Efekt použitých antimalarik byl dobrý.

The authors describe a fatal case of tertian malaria (Plasmodium vivax) imported to the Czech Republic fromIndia. Severe clinical symptoms leading to shock and multi-organ failure are more frequent in tropical malaria (P.falciparum). Despite the use oc continuous veno-venous haemodiafiltration HLA-DR decline and death occurred.The effect of the administered antimalarias drugs was good.
