Liver Abscess as a Complication of Salmonellosis in a Diabetic Patient

Overview
Salmonellosis in diabetics has not necessarily a quite complication-free course. In the submitted case-report we wish to demonstrate a patient with diabetes mellitus who developed classical salmonella gastroenteritis as an alimentary infection which receded, and after several weeks an extensive liver abscess developed which called for puncture and evacuation and long-term antibiotic treatment.
Key words:
diabetes mellitus - extraintestinal salmonellosis
