Impaired Equilibrium in Advanced Age
Poruchy rovnováhy ve vyšším věku
Autoři podávají přehled příčin závratí a poruch rovnováhy u lidí vyššího věku, které často vedou k pádům. Studie předkládá analýzu více než dvaceti biomedicínských faktorů sledovaných u skupiny pacientů, kteří byli vyšetřeni pro poruchy rovnováhy a kontrolní skupiny dobrovolníků stejného věku bez závrativých potíží. Obě skupiny se liší v četnosti výskytu vertiga a pádů, naopak se neliší ve výskytu subjektivně vnímané instability.

The authors present a review of causes of vertigo and impaired equilibrium in subjects of advanced age, frequently leading to falls. The study submits an analysis of more than twenty biomedical factors investigated in a group of patients examined on account of impaired equilibrium and a control group of volunteers of similar age but without vertigo. The two groups differ as regards the incidence of vertigo and falls while they do not differ in the incidence of subjectively perceived instability.
