Křivka prevalence osteoporózy a osteomalacie u nás i ve světě stoupá dosti strmě. V tomtočlánku autoři předkládají pětileté zkušenosti s ultrazvukovým denzitometrem Achilles Lunar,umožňujícím rozpoznat tyto choroby v začátku dříve než při rtg vyšetření. Výsledky ukázaly,že přístroj je užitečný, nezatěžuje vyšetřované osoby ani obsluhu radiací a výstupy jsousrovnatelné s velkými denzitometry DEXA.

Overview

The curve of prevalence of osteoporosis and osteomalacia in our country and worldwide is risingquite steeply. In the submitted article the authors present five years´ experience with theultrasonographic densitometer Achilles Lunar which makes it possible to diagnose theseconditions sooner than by X-ray examination. The results revealed that the apparatus is useful,does not endanger the examined subjects and attending staff with radiation and the outcomesare comparable with those of large DEXA densitometers.v
