Herwig Hamperl v Praze

Prof.
Dr. med. Herwig Hamperl (1899-1976) působil v létech 1940-1945 jako přednosta německého patologického ústavu Karlovy univerzity v Praze. Popis pražského působení vychází především z jeho životopisné knihy (Vývgj a životní pout' patologa), která vyšla v roce 1972 pouze v německém vydání. Přibližuje historii univerzity, německého patologického ústavu a podmínky a způsob práce před šedesáti léty. Vzpomíná na své vrstevníky, líčí svůj vztah k českým patologům, prof. Siklovi i ke svým českým žákům. Zmíněna je pitva a příčina smrti Reinharda Heydricha, poměry na univerzitě a v Praze během válečných let.

Prof.
Herwig Hamperl, M.D. (1899-1976), Chairman of the German Institute of Pathology, Charles University, Prague in years 1940-1945. The account of his work in Prague is firat of all besed on his autobiography (A Pathologist'a Life and Evolution), publiahed in 1972 in a German edition ohly. It describes the hiatory of the university and conditions of work in the German Institute of Pathology 60 years ago. Hamperl recalla here his contemporaries, his relationships with the Czech pathologists, Prof. Šikl and his Czech studenta. The autopsy and the cause of death of Reinhard Heydrich are reported as well as the situation at the university and in Prague during the war years.
