The Possibilities of Establishing Risk in Development of Premature Atherosclerosis by Imaging Methods at the Child Age
Možnosti stanovení rizika rozvoje předčasné aterosklerózy zobrazovacími metodami v dětském věku
Kardiovaskulární onemocnění představují stále nejčastější příčinu úmrtí ve většině evropských zemí. Ačkoli se klinicky manifestují především v dospělosti, jejich kauzální příčina – aterosklerotický proces – začíná již v dětském věku. Včasná diagnostika a pokus o ovlivnění počínajících aterosklerotických změn již v tomto období by tedy mohly být zásadním přínosem pro prevenci tohoto onemocnění v celé populaci. Cílem sdělení je podat souhrn již zavedených i nově diskutovaných metod stanovení preklinické aterosklerózy a jejich využití v klinické medicíně.

Overview
Cardiovascular diseases represent an ever more frequent cause of death in most European countries. In spite of the fact that they become clinically manifest particularly at the adult age, their cause – atherosclerotic process – originates already in childhood. An early diagnostics and an attempt to influence initial atherosclerotic changes already in this period could therefore significantly contribute to prevention of this disease in the population as a whole. The aim of the contribution is to summarize the established as well as recently discussed methods for the determination preclinical atherosclerosis and their use in clinical medicine.
